Appearance: Constance stands a little above average at 5'6" in stocking feet. Her hair, the shade of medium brown reaches well past the mid of her back when it's not pinned back in a bun at the nape of her neck or french braided down her back. She has the Greenes trademark blue eyes, though not as vibrant and full of life as some of her siblings. They still tend to show her emotions, even when she tries to keep them hidden. She wears either dresses or skirt, most of which now are black or the darkest of grays to show the state of mourning she is still in. Constance has never been one for wear bonnets or any type of head gear save for a straw hat that Seamus picked up for her on one of his trips. She tends to wear it occasionally. and unless the weather is unbearable to the extreme she wears a light, buckskin duster that had been her late husband's. It had been a favorite acticle of his. By wearing it Constance feels she keeps him close, not in body, but in spirit as it continues to retain his scent. Personality: Constance can be described as the typical housewife of the 1860s. She generally puts her family before herself. Not that she puts little importance on herself, it's just when her family is happy and content those feelings are transmitted over to Constance. She's also one of those people who just can't seem to sit still for longer then two seconds. She always needs to be moving or doing something. You know what they say about idle hands. She also tends to run a strict household, and won't tolerate any type of behavior she catagorizes as lazy or shiftless. She wasn't raised that way and she won't let her children succomb to such improper behaviors. Special Skills/Weapons Used: Cooking, cleaning, sewing, etc. All things that make a woman a good mother and wife. She knows how to handle firearms due to the insistance of her husband that she learn, and is quite good. Though nowhere near the level of a sharpshooter. Though not an expert rider, Constance knows how to handle a horse. And other types of farm animals as part of her growing up was spent on a farm where such animals were raised. She is also quite competent on a piano. Usually though when one finds her at the piano keys it is either due to her needing to find some type of relaxation or as a way of trying to shed away her worry, she rarely plays the instrument merely for pleasures sake. Weaknesses:Though it's not something that she would ever admit to, Constance is afraid of failure. Of not being able to properly provide for herself or her family. She's too proud and stubborn a woman to ever admit to any such faults that would be taken as weaknesses by others. She's also afraid of being alone. For so long she has had her family to take care of that if she lost them her life would no longer have purpose or meaning. She also has an intense fear of snakes. The mere sight of one will have her slowly backtracking her steps to put as much distance between her and the slithering creature. HistoryThe end of spring, 1835, had another child joining the Greene clan. Constance Eulalia Greene was born on a small farm in Tennessee, and like her brothers before her, her entrance into the world was assisted by her maternal grandmother. The third child of Francis and Gretchen Greene. The first 11 years of Constance's life were spent on a small farm in Tennesse. While her brothers help their father with the general running of the farm, as Constance grew she began helping her mother tend to the growing line of brothers and sister that expanded their happy and content family. When Constance was 11 her father got the notion in his head that the family should join the migration west. The Greenes joined a wagon train that would eventually deposit the family in Texas, specifically in the town of Austin. The years that followed moved by smoothly for Francis and Gretchen's third oldest. Her life free of complications. Well, that held true up until the day she met met one Seamus Comerford. Seamus was the brother of a Texas ranger. Being a captain of a riverboat the man had felt that type of life was not the most appropriate for a little girl to experience, thus his reasoning behind sending his only daughter from Louisville to live with his brother and his family in Austin. It was through the friendship between her brother Jessup and the follower ranger that Constance and Seamus' worlds would collide. Seamus had the manners of a sailor, brash and uncouth, well those were Constance's thoughts on the man at their first disastorous meeting. There second meeting took a smoother road, Seamus's young daughter, for the most part, had quite an impact on the encounter. Constance witnessed a different side to the man, one that clearly displayed the love and caring he had for his young daughter. It was like she had glimpsed both sides of the coin that made up his life. By the time Constance's 21st birthday had come and went she found herself married to Seamus, step mother to his young daughter, and expecting her and Seamus' first child. Children as it turned out. Eight and a half months after exchanging maritial vows with the river boat captain Constance gave birth to a pair of healthy baby boys. Twins. As she had become pregnant not long after marrying, Constance swears still to this day that their wedding night had been the point of conception of her two boys and not anytime after, it had been decided that she would remain in Austin until after the birthing. It just hadn't sat right with Seamus that she make the move to Louisville in her condition or be alone for long stretches of time through the duration of her pregnancy. Once the baby, or in this case babies, was born Seamus would move his family to Louisville to live in the house that had been left to him by his folks. Two years after the twins birth Constance and Seamus welcomed their third child into the world, this one a little baby girl. And it was two years after that that Constance would find herself once more with child, though sadly this one would survive through the full term of the pregnancy. Complications had arisen four months into her pregnancy, complications that would not only rob the couple of their fourth child, but would leave Constance without the ability to conceive and carry any more children to full term. Tragedy would find its way into Constance's once more almost seven years later. An explosion on one of the riverboats Seamus owned totalled the vessel and also claimed the lives of five men, one of which was her husband. With her beloved Captain put to rest, and staying in the house becoming too much for Constance to bare with all the memories the place contained, Constance felt the only option open to her was to move. The decision on where to make that move was made easier after a few letters had been exchanged between herself and her brother, Jessup. Constance would take what remained of her family to New Shelby. From what she had gained from the last letter she received from the California town, the current owner of the boarding house there was anxious to sell and move on. While Constance wasn't good with any trade of real trade, she was quite familiar with the running of a boarding house. It had been what the Comerford's place had become over the years. Not that the family was in severe need of money, it was more along the lines of giving Constance something to do that had purpose, beyond the raising of her family. | |||||||||
